International Mowers Tournament



The International "Mowers' Tournament" for the prizes of JSC "Artinsky Zavod" in the Sverdlovsk region has become a popular place to demonstrate the skills and experience of the best mowers from different regions of Russia, the near and far abroad.

Mowers and representatives of associations of mowers of all countries of the world are traditionally invited to participate in the Tournament. 7 tournaments have been held. The number of participants and spectators has grown, if in 2011 there were about 300 spectators and 20 participants in the first tournament. In 2018, there were already 80 participants and more than 5,000 spectators. The tournament became international, at various times it was attended by athletes from France, Montenegro, Ukraine, Austria, Armenia, Belarus, Slovakia. Participated in the tournament in different years mowers from Sverdlovsk, Kirov, Arkhangelsk, Chelyabinsk, Kurgan, Penza, Tomsk regions, Moscow and Moscow region, Bashkiria, Tatarstan, Yakutia. The tournament consists of several parallel programs, the main of which is competitive men's, women's and team competitions).

The peculiarity of the event is that competitions in sporting mowing are combined with a multinational cultural and fair festival, built on themes related to mowing.

The tournament went beyond the framework of sporting events and turned into a bright cultural event, uniting connoisseurs of history and experts in folk customs, modern folk groups and original artists performing folk music. The event is accompanied by a national folklore program, in which the national teams of Artinsky district take part, and also the best folklore groups of the Sverdlovsk region as headliners.

The folk crafts of the Sverdlovsk region and the products of the enterprise are widely represented. Masters of Artinsky Zavod conduct master classes on mowing and beating braids for all who wish to comprehend the wisdom of preparing the scythe for work and the mowing process itself.

At the exhibition-fair there are a lot of different products by masters of the Ural region (special attention is paid here to the author's works), master classes in folk crafts are held.

In 2018, the “We Do Good” charity project was presented at the Tournament, at which the project volunteers had beautiful and touching crafts from orphanages and boarding schools.

In the zone of rural farmsteads, tastings of the Ural national cuisine (Mari, Tatar, Russian) are held.

In addition to the competition for beauty, a beauty contest "Beauty of the Fields" and a photo contest "One Day in the Life of the Tournament" are held.

Sightseeing: Temple Museum of Artinsky Plant, Artie Observatory (UFAN). The observatory is known worldwide as one of the best and oldest observatories. Today there are four geophysical stations - magnetic (since 1836), seismic (since 1970) and ionospheric (since 1944), GPS station (since 1999). For free tourists, local historians: on the territory of the district are natural monuments: Sabarsky protected area of primary (not logged) forests, Mount Kashkabash, mountain feather-grass steppes, Potashkinskaya and Berezovskaya oak forests, Stone spoon at the village of Komarovo
