The festival of traditional shipbuilding and shipping "Kizhi regatta" began in 1999 with a joint initiative of the Museum-Reserve "Kizhi" and the local community. Over the years of its existence, the festival has grown to the level of a federal and international “model” event, which gave impetus to the development of similar festivals and celebrations on the water throughout the country. Today the festival is included in the national calendar of events in Russia and is annually presented at the largest international tourist exhibitions in Russia and abroad. In 2018, the festival was among the top 10 travel projects in Russia.

In the festival program:

- various workshops on traditional shipbuilding,

- competition "People's Boat", which presents small size craft made by hand using old and modern technologies

- dynamic racing on traditional and modern boats - one of the most beautiful events taking place on the island of Kizhi during the summer. Participants from villages of the historic Kizhi parish, Petrozavodsk, St. Petersburg and other cities of Russia, Finland, Norway and other foreign countries are competing for the main prize.

- concerts of popular foreign and Russian folk groups

- fair of local producers and craftsmen of traditional crafts

- Special events for children and young people aged 13 to 20 years old “Youth Regatta”.

Sightseeing: Kizhi Pogost Ensemble: Church of the Transfiguration, Church of the Intercession of the Holy Virgin, Bell Tower.
